The most important thing to know about applying Vanilla Mozi is that the Proprietary Blend needs time to fully absorb and activate. We recommend applying approximately ten minutes before you head outdoors.
This allows the blend to interact fully with the carboxylic acids in your skin — the molecular interaction that creates the botanical veil. Applied right before going out, it will still be working, but giving it ten minutes to settle means you're fully protected from the moment you step outside rather than from a few minutes after.
If you're getting children ready for outdoor play or an evening on the deck, work the Vanilla Mozi step into the routine a few minutes before the sunscreen, shoes, and hats phase. It fits naturally into the getting-ready sequence with a small buffer built in.
Apply generously — the veil needs to be complete
The botanical veil works as a complete system. Every area of exposed skin that carries the Vanilla Mozi Proprietary Blend becomes part of the protection. Any area of exposed skin that does not carry it remains detectable to mosquitoes.
This means coverage matters. Apply generously to all exposed skin — including the face, neck, ears and feet. These are the areas most likely to be left uncovered, and they are exactly the areas that will be investigated if they carry your natural scent signature.
The face is often where people hesitate most — decades of clinical repellent products have trained us to avoid applying anything in that category near the face, especially children's faces. With Vanilla Mozi, this instinct can be set aside. The formula is safe for babies' faces and is gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. Layering with sunscreen
The correct order when using both Vanilla Mozi and sunscreen is simple: SPF first, Vanilla Mozi second.
Apply your sunscreen first and allow it to fully absorb — most sunscreen formulations recommend a few minutes before exposure. Once your sunscreen has absorbed, apply Vanilla Mozi over the top as your final step. The botanical veil needs to be the outermost layer on your skin to operate at its most effective.
Please note: Vanilla Mozi is not a sunscreen and provides no UV protection. For all outdoor activity during daylight hours, a separate SPF product is essential. The two products serve different functions and work together effectively in the layering sequence above.
Reapplication: when and why
