Apply before you go out — not as you go
The most important thing to know about applying Vanilla Mozi is that the Proprietary Blend needs time to fully absorb and activate. We recommend applying approximately ten minutes before you head outdoors.
This allows the blend to interact fully with the carboxylic acids in your skin — the molecular interaction that creates the botanical veil. Applied immediately before going out, it will still be working, but giving it ten minutes to settle and activate means you are fully protected from the moment you step outside.
If you are getting children ready for outdoor play, add the Vanilla Mozi step a couple of minutes before the sun cream, shoes and hats stage of the routine. It fits naturally into the getting-ready sequence with a small buffer built in.
Apply generously — the veil needs to be complete
The botanical veil works as a system. Every area of exposed skin that carries the Vanilla Mozi Proprietary Blend becomes part of the protection. Any area of exposed skin that does not carry it remains detectable.
This means coverage matters. Apply generously to all exposed skin — including the face, neck, ears and feet. These are easy areas to forget, and they are the areas most likely to be investigated by nature's uninvited guests if left uncovered.
The face is often where people are most cautious — the instinct from years of clinical outdoor protection products is to avoid the face, particularly for children. With Vanilla Mozi, this instinct can be set aside. The formula is safe for babies' faces and is gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. Apply it with the same confidence you would apply a moisturiser.
Layering with sunscreen
We are often asked about the correct order for applying Vanilla Mozi alongside sunscreen, and the answer is clear: SPF first, Vanilla Mozi second.
Apply your sunscreen first and allow it to absorb fully — most sunscreen formulations recommend a few minutes before physical contact. Once your sunscreen has absorbed, apply Vanilla Mozi over the top as your final step. This layering order is important: the botanical veil needs to be the outermost layer on your skin to operate at its most effective.
Please note that Vanilla Mozi is not a sunscreen and provides no UV protection. For all outdoor activity during daylight hours, a separate SPF product is essential. The two products serve different functions and work together beautifully in the layering sequence described above.
Reapplication: when and why
Protection from Vanilla Mozi lasts approximately two hours per application under normal conditions. For extended time outdoors, set a reminder and reapply on schedule.
There are specific circumstances that require reapplication regardless of timing: after swimming, after heavy perspiration, or after towelling dry. Water contact disrupts the botanical veil, and reapplication restores it immediately.
